I want to speak to you about color, but in a different way than I usually do.  This discussion is meant to peak your interest in color trends and how we communicate with color.

Have you ever wondered who sets the colors trends and what is being said by the chosen colors?

I’m using “Pantone Guide to Communicating with Color” written by Leatrice Eiseman as my reference today. If you are not using this book as a reference for color selection then I recommend you buy it today.

So, let’s take the color green as an example…quoting from the “Pantone Guide to Communicating with Color” green is soothing, the color of nature, refreshing and fresh”.

With all the talk of green living, green space, etc we really need this color in our world.  All this green talk is reflected in the way manufactures are using color.  Have you noticed how they are speaking to us through their use of nature inspired themes?  We can buy these nature inspired objects in clothing, and household items.

Trends are set from people watching the TV, especially the commericals, they are set through entertainers, movies and actors and actresses.  If we can’t afford the real thing, then we look for ways to imitate our heros with a substitute or look alike.

There are other colors and their symbolism given in “The Pantone Guide to Communicating with Color”.  Also included are many, many color combinations, that will take your art to a higher level for years to come.

I have many artist’ s books in my library, but this is one of the best ones.  To order your copy click here “Pantone Guide to Communicating with Color“.  It will be sent to you in a timely manner and you will be greatly benefited by using the information in this book.
