This is June 22, 1010 and the third day of the of the 7 Day Blog Challenge with Jeanette Cates. This is Ellene Breedlove Davis
In my art library, I have a book “Blue and Yellow Don’t Make Green”, written by Michael Wilcox. I use this book as a reference. Michael has also written a small book called “Mixing Greens.” We talked about paints that lean toward another color in the workshop last Saturday.
Here are some ways to accomplish beautiful greens…
Lemon Yellow leans toward green
Sap green leans toward yellow
Combine Cadmium Yellow Light, which is an orange-yellow plus Cerulean Blue, a green-blue, use these together to get a mid-intensity green. This is neither bright or dull.
Since we are already using Lemon Yellow, let’s select Cerulean Blue, they are both carriers of green. Together they make a green-blue.
Lemon Yellow and Phthalocyanine Blue (Thalo Blue) mix to a range of clear, very bright greens. This will be semi-transparent yellow green to very transparent blue greens
Phthalocyanine Green and Lemon Yellow mixes to a very strong intensity.
These are just a few colors that can be used to have a bright and vibrant painting.
