The Importance of Color.
J. Dodson Hessey, who is not without honor in his own country, England, writes,
“The great importance of color
lies in the fact that it can influence all the different aspects of man –physical, emotional, mental and spiritual, and so help to produce that harmony which in itself implies perfect health”.
These thoughts on color and the above quote are taken from “The Power of Color”. Author, Faber Birren
Following are some of Hessey’s theories:
Blue, according to Hessey, contracts the arteries and raises the blood pressure.
Green, lowers blood pressure, it is a sedative.
Orange is a stimulant and increases the blood pressure only slightly.
Yellow is a mental stimulant. It is cheerful.
Red is a strong
color
and softened with white to make a rose is beneficial in cases of the blues.
Amethyst combines the stimulating effect of red with the effect of blue.
Violet acts specifically upon the heart, lungs and blood vessels.

If you are interested in what role
color
plays in your day to day life, then make a study, read books, talk with healers and try it for yourself.
In my art library I have a couple of books written by Michael Wilcox, “Blue and Yellow Don’t Make Green” and “Mixing Greens”. In the post “Mixing the Greens You Want Every Time” http://bit.ly/uHhT2O, will give you a good foundation in learning to mix one of the most important colors on the palette
