Does it bother you that there is so little time for creativity during the holidays?
How can you feel creative and overcome stress at this time of year?
The hardest task is keeping your focus! Here are 10 ways to help you accomplish a time of creativity in the midst of being pulled in every direction.
1) Listen to music as you go about shopping, gift wrapping and participating in family events.
2) Keep a notebook nearby, when you think of something you would like to paint later, jot it down. Another use would be to make notes of new projects that come to mind.
3) Take time for yourself, go for a walk and let your mind be free to think of creative ideas to use when you aren’t so busy.
Dr. Phil McGraw states “You can’t give from an empty cup.”
4) Use these ideas to brainstorm, ask yourself – what if, and in what way could I - make a note of everything that comes to mind, prioritize, then take the 3 highest points on the list and prioritize them, use the most important one. The other 2 may be good ideas also, use these as supplements to the first one.
5) Think about turning your creative problems into a creative challenge.
6) Practice the act of kindness, helpfullness and appreciation to all you meet.
7) When you find there are conflicting goals, make it an opportunity to put your creativity to the challenge.
Know your goals and have a plan to accomplish them.
9) Set goals to direct you from point A to point B through the holidays.
10) Be creative in how you ask for help during the holidays as each person has their own goals.
Anxiety is an enemy of creativity. Use the tips above to achieve harmony and good will through the holidays.
