The Landscape Artist Speaks

Choosing to frame your fine art can be a big decision as there are many frame styles available.

Some are both ready-made and custom-made.  If you’re ordering from a catalog, there are many styles to choose from.  I just look in the first section of my catalog,  and I see a caption “Black Satin Grande”.  Can you imagine how that frame looks?  As its name implies this is a big and bold wood molding, that is sleek and polished.  It would compliment a variety of fine art and photography.  It is smooth, velvety black and dramatic.

This is one that you can buy ready-made or have custom-made.  How do you think this frame would fit your decor?

Another choice is the Plein Air frames that are classic and distinctive.  They are genuine wood with weathered detailing, these are wide and relatively flat as its name indicates.

We could go on from The Black Tire Affair to Regency to Rustica, there is something here for every decor.

Not only are there different styles of frames, there are styles that hold the artwork differently.  For the wide canvas wrapped canvases, now there is a unique way to fasten these into the frames.  The frames are  called “Canvas Floaters” they are manufactured in wood and metal.  Your art appears suspended and separated from the molding.  These are beautiful and unique.

Metal frames can also be used with the wrapped canvases.  Metal frames come in numerous sizes and widths, and in colors from Gunmetal to Frosted Silver.  These are shipped unassembled, but the hardware is furnished and they are easy to assemble.

Some of the metal frames names are Black Magic, Modern Classics, Nuances, Luscious Lacquers and Precious Metals.

The choice to visit your local framer is a good one also! There they have actual mats and frames to try with your picture.
