Art festivals are a sign of fall.  Just as much as the corn maze, pumpkin carving and the many other activities that we love to participate in each year.

Do you feel the rush of fall in the air?  And, the rush of getting everything done before your next exhibit?  I certainly do!  It seems that my last chore is getting my pictures into the matting and framing.

Do you get so caught up in preparing for the show that you lose track of time?  Then there is a feeling of being a little sad after the festival?

Here are 7 suggestions to help you overcome these feelings.

1) Take the next day off!

2) On the second day, write thank you notes to people that came by

3) Put your supplies, (business cards, racks, sales book, etc) back in their usual place

4) Hang your pictures in their normal space

5) Make notes of the show, review the paintings that you displayed, list comments

6) Turn to your next exhibit

7) Get back to your easel or paper and let your thoughts turn toward the future.

Some of us are looking forward to the seventh annual Dirt Road Gallery Show and Sale in Rochelle, GA on November 7 and 8.

And today, I’m back to my easel to paint something new to replace the paintings that I sold at the last festival.

Am I excited? You betcha!
